IAU HAS HELD FOUR INTERNATIONAL ANTITERRORISM FORUMS

International Terrorism — Current Condition, Origins and Ways of Counteraction
May 25-28, 2004, Kyiv, Ukraine

It included two scientific and practical conferences:

  • Modern Terrorism - Threat to National Security.                    
  • Manipulation Strategies and Terrorism.                                                  
  • The role of mass media in the fight against terrorism, the NATO policy in the fight against this threat to all mankind, perspectives of organizing anti-mine activity in Ukraine were more closely considered at three round tables.

The Forum has adopted the Declaration to call the inter­national community to develop and implement global programme of terrorism combat based on the formation of new prin­ciples of the national security system able to unite the potentials of both state bodies and non-governmental organizations.

2nd FORUM
Modern Ukraine in Conditions of New Threats (Terrorism and Extremism)
May 24-25 Kyiv, Ukraine

The main mission of the Forum was to attract public attention to the issues of modern terrorism and international security systems, the necessity to form new approaches to the development of complex counteraction to this dangerous phenomenon primarily through the consolidated position of the society civil forces.
The Forum has supported the IAU strategic public initiative to create theNational   Program Model of Counteraction to Terrorism and Extremism (public component) and, taking into account proposed additions and suggestions, approved it.
The Forum worked in sections:

  • Crisis of Cultural and Moral Criteria as Precondition of Terrorism and Extremism;
  • Ukraine within New System of International Security;
  • Role of Civil Society in FormingBusiness Security System in Ukraine;
  • Problem of Organizing Anti-Mine Action in Ukraine;
  • Future Without Terrorism and Extremism: Position of Young Generation;

3rd FORUM
State and Society - Social Partners in Fight Against Terrorism.
June 1-2, 2006, Kyiv, Ukraine

The key objective of the Forum was to promote reconsideration of past stereotypes of national and international security, introduction of new approaches to its development in line with modern threats, mainly through strengthening the role of public institutions which might be powerful subjects of international and national security systems, reliable partners of state bodies in fight against terrorism.
Section work was held within the programme of the Forum:

  • Ethnocultural Component of Terrogenic Actions;
  • Technologies of Civil Counteraction to Terrorisms;

The Forum participants adopted the Resolution and the Adress.

4th FORUM
Human Rights Protection in Terrorism Counteraction
June 7-8, 2007, Kyiv, Ukraine

The key objective of the ?V International Antiterrorism Forum ‘Human Rights Protection in Terrorism Counteraction’ was to improve means of democratic rights and freedoms protection in antiterrorist strategy realization on both national and interstate levels.
Within bounds of the Forum the following plenary meetings were held: Human Rights Protection in Realization of Antiterrorism Strategy;

  • Interstate Coordination and Modern Standards of Safety for Antiterrorists and Peace-Makers

The Forum has adopted the Resolution
