On nominating the candidature of Oleksandr Dichek for the election to the post of vice chairman of the Committee on Human Rights
Dr. Dichek has been the President of the International Antiterrorist Unity, the non-governmental public organization with the Participatory Status of the Council of Europe activities since its foundation, and the major principle he upholds is the counteraction to international terrorism, religious intolerance, racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, human trade etc. must be inseparable from human rights protection and undeviating observance.
When elected to the post of the vice chairman of the Committee on Human Rights of the Conference of INGOs Dr. Dichek will undoubtedly promote the consolidation of the non-governmental organizations forces as well as the active implementation of principles of the protection of people`s legal rights as the indispensable condition of the democratic society development in the world where the respect to the rights of any country has been the guarantee of global stability.
Heading the IAU Representative Departments in various countries, participating in the work of the Conference of INGOs sessions and the PACE, Dr. Dichek has acquired the significant international activities experience. It was Dr. Dichek who initiated five international forums in Ukraine, the fourth of which, `Human Rights Protection in Antiterrorism Counteraction`(May 2007) was held on a par with the Ombudsman of Ukraine, with a number of well-known human rights advocates participating. Mr. Dichek`s key efforts will be put into the role of the Committee as a partner of the Commissioner for Human Rights.
Dr. Dichek`s duties and responsibilities are broad and varied—scientific, research and pedagogical activities, participation in many international conferences. Besides, Mr. Dichek has been the editor-in-chief of the yearly magazine`Society Resists Terrorism`, `Problems of Person, Society and State Safety` bulletine, as well as the Professor of University lecturing on Antiterrorist Actions and Human Rights. His active elucidatory public work is well-known through mass media across the country.
Nominating Dr. Dichek for the election we feel confident of his potential and abilities to promote among other things the scientific research on the whole range of modern problems and challenges—international terrorism combat, religious intolerance, racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, human trade etc.—which make the human rights protection the immediate priority.
